Become a "BlueSound" Band Member!

The Blue Mountain Christian University “BlueSound” Band represents the university in various public appearances throughout the year, from Wind Ensemble concerts on campus in the MLB Auditorium to the BlueSound Pep Band supporting our women’s and men’s basketball teams. The BMCU Band program currently consist of four ensembles: Wind Ensemble, “BlueSound” Pep Band, Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Band. Plans are in the works to add an indoor winds ensemble as well as a steel drum ensemble.

Want a BlueSound Band Scholarship?!

Scholarships are awarded to all students in the BMCU BlueSound Band, based on a scholarship audition. Auditions may be waived if applicants have placed in an All-District or All-State Band.

Wind Instruments

2 Major scales (student’s choice, multiple octaves where appropriate)
Chromatic Scale
Prepared piece that demonstrates your abilities as a musician
Sight reading

Percussion

*Percussionists are encouraged to audition on multiple instruments, but this is not required

Snare Drum
2 rudiments (student’s choice, open-closed-open)
Concert Buzz roll ( p < f > p)
Prepared piece that demonstrates your abilities as a musician (could be a rudimental snare piece, concert snare piece, or both)
Sightread
